Bunka is a general purpose kitchen knife as Santoku and it used to be just as popular as the Santoku, but has become less commonplace in recent years. With its wider blade, the Bunka knife is suitable for cutting vegetables, while the triangle-shaped tip area is particularly useful when cutting fish and meats.

Aogami No.2 (Hitachi Metals Ltd.) is made by adding Chromium and Tungsten / Wolfram to Shirogami No.2. This results in increased toughness and the production of hard carbide molecules which improve edge retention. Many knife users have noted that while Aogami No.2 is very similar to Shirogami No.2 in terms of edge sharpness, it has slightly superior edge retention.

Kurouchi Finish, the unprocessed (black) part on the top side of the blade has already developed a dark patina, which protects the blade and gives it a traditional Japanese look.

The beauty of Damascus pattern meets with Japanese Hagane core edge, that creates distinctive harmony and attract both enthusiasts of Damascus and Hagane. You can find this combination from the Blacksmith’s forged knives.

The knife is absolutely amazing, I had never handled a knife of such quality before buying it so as you can imagine I was simply amazed by the sharpness and feel of this knife. I have been using it for about 2 months, it’s still sharp and I enjoy every opportunity to cut something ever since. The knife was shipped from Japan and arrived to me in Israel in 3 DAYS! That’s almost twice as fast as ordering groceries from a local store near my house. I can’t recommend Musashi enough, that was one of the best buying experiences I’ve ever had. 100% would recommend!

Well made- good fit and finish, and sharp. I use for just about everything except when I need something heavier and larger. The steel is "good enough"- easy to sharpen and stays sharp for a reasonable period of time.

This is my wife’s favorite knife to use daily. She lives the feel of the handle and the quality of the blade.

Product Features

Handmade Forging

With the traditional forging process, the molecules of the iron material are finely tuned, leading to the completion of a "living kitchen knife" that breathes.

Durability

The process of heating and forging each material for mold making is repeated three or four times to quickly shape the blade and create durability before the carbon is released from the steel causing it to lose its original strength.

Sharpness

The blade is the most important factor in achieving the best possible sharpness. It is polished in our own blade factory to produce uncompromising sharpness.

Handle

The highest priority is placed on sturdiness, a sense of luxury, and a shape that is easy to grip and does not cause fatigue even after long hours of use.
