The reason why it's called 肥後守 Higonokami is that they had a lot of customers who bought that knife in Kumamoto prefecture which is located in 肥後 Higo area. And 守 kami, that letter means, charm, defense, guard, director, work etc.

San-Mai Pocket knife

The knife is a work of beauty for sure, however, not being used much at all and especially being used just cutting soft food for just a few times only after being purchased, and getting dull already is not a good sign of real good smiting, quality of material or used techniques. So I'm not sure if it's built to be used as an everyday tool like my other knives that I've obtained from other manufacturers.
But again, it's beautiful as a decorative piece.

Very good knife

Good knife! Only downside was it were a little hard to take out the blade, otherwise really cool and good knife!

It looks nice, but the mechanism is stiff, and the blade is too thick. The blade edge is serviceable, though some parts stick a little. It's good for what it is though.

Excellent all around!

I was extremely surprised about the quality of the little Higo no Kami.
Such a nice collectors piece but also very functional. What surprised me the most was the excellent service I received from Musashihamono. If you’re from the west like myself, I suggest you make it a priority to deal with Japanese companies like Musashihamamono, they really care about the customer experience. Domo arigatou gozaimushita!
