Another reason why professional chef selects Gingami 3 is a good affinity to whetstones at hand re-sharpening. The combination with the soft stainless SUS405 outer layer provides further easiness to the blade sharpening.

A gift for my mother who is a chef

Japanese knives are such a cultural significance in Japan and I was so thrilled to visit Musashi for the first time! Happy to report, it did not disappoint. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable on much of their inventory of knives. Even though I was buying a knife for a gift, I was still able to use the knife myself. I wanted something for multiple uses, as she works with a lot of vegetables. The staff gave me a cut board and vegetable to cut and test out the sharpness and technique of cutting. Super smooth and the handle is lightweight. I came in overwhelmed and the staff helped me narrow down what I was essentially looking for in terms of use and budget. Woo!

Carbon steel offers exceptional sharpness and edge retention, but requires careful maintenance to avoid rust. Stainless steel is easier to care for and resists corrosion, making it ideal for everyday use.
