Aogami No.2 (Hitachi Metals Ltd.) is made by adding Chromium and Tungsten / Wolfram to Shirogami No.2. This results in increased toughness and the production of hard carbide molecules which improve edge retention. Many knife users have noted that while Aogami No.2 is very similar to Shirogami No.2 in terms of edge sharpness, it has slightly superior edge retention.Kurouchi Finish, the unprocessed (black) part on the top side of the blade has already developed a dark patina, which protects the blade and gives it a traditional Japanese look.

A nice Gift

I have used my knife on one occasion so far and I had never experienced slicing raw carrots with the feeling of cutting through soft butter.

The knife is weighted perfectly overall and balanced perfectly between the handle and the blade.
I also appreciate the videos explaining clearly the use and sharpening of the knives; so helpful.
On receipt of my knife, I received a personalised card, which is a very nice touch. I look forward to buying more knives. With a set of Musashi knives, I don't need to buy any other knives for my kitchen ever.
